1. What a cookie is (briefly)
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between page loads. Some are essential to a site working; some are used to understand how a site is used; some are used to advertise. Visit Vanta only uses the first two categories.
2. Cookies on visitvanta.com
vv_session— essential — keeps you signed in to the Business Portal for the duration of your session.vv_consent— essential — remembers which cookie categories you accepted so we don't ask on every page.vv_theme— preference — remembers your light/dark preference in the Portal.vv_pa— analytics — an aggregate, IP-truncated product-analytics ID, used only to understand which sections of our site people read. Never used to identify individuals.
3. What we don't use
- No advertising cookies. No cross-site trackers. No third-party marketing pixels.
- The one exception on the marketing website is our contact form provider (Tally), which sets its own session cookie only when you interact with the form. Their policy: tally.so/help/privacy-policy.
4. How to control cookies
You can decline analytics cookies at the bottom of any page via the "Cookie preferences" link. Essential cookies cannot be disabled — without them the site simply doesn't work. Every modern browser also lets you clear or block cookies at the browser level.
5. Changes to this policy
If we add a new cookie, we'll update this list before it goes live. The effective date at the top is always current.
